Ciao e prego...<br /> <br /> This is a personal website. I have created it in order to help me share my experiences living abroad in Italy. It is rather simple, plain, and clean, as I prefer to let the images and stories speak for themselves.<br /> <p>I currently live in the commune of Bacoli, a small township of Pozzuoli, part of the greater Naples area which is located in the Campania province of Italy. I'm about 2 hours south of Rome, on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Mt. Vesuvius is just next door, as are the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum (today Ercolano). Sorrento is across the Bay of Naples, as is the Isle of Capri. The islands of Ischia and Procida are right out my back door. I live on a hill facing the west, and to my west is the sea, to my south is the town of Monte di Procida. I can see my friend Brett's house from here.</p> <p>I have traveled throughout Italy, though by no means have I been everywhere or even close to all the places I would love to see. But I have visited the major locations such as Rome, Assisi, Florence, Siena, Bologna, and Venice. I visit Sorrento fairly regularly, and have been to Sant Agata d'Goti, Benevento, Roccaraso, Gaeta, and a good portion of the Lazio region on a self-run wine tour.</p> <p>Yes, I love red wine. Love. Chianti would be my favorite, but I'll take just about anything.</p> <p>About the site. The Welcome/About, Timeline/History, and Contact sections will open on this page, as I have attempted to keep them rather succint. This is the Welcome/About section. The Timeline/History is just a little background on where I've come from and how I got here. Contact is, of course, to contact me.</p> <p>If you're would like to see photos, follow either the Italy or USA link in the navigation menu or click on one of the photos to the right. The Journal/Blog is a little space for me to record my thoughts, experiences, and whatever else I feel like publishing on any given day.</p> <p>Pour yourself a glass of wine and step into my world for a little while. A brief history of how I got here...<br /> <ul> <li><span class="italic">January 2005</span><br /> On det with VF–101 to Key West, Florida, when I have an afternoon conversation with my detailer (Kato) in which he tells me he has a slot open in Europe if I want it. The possibility of living in Naples surfaces.</li> <li><span class="italic">February 2005</span><br /> Trip to Naples to visit friends Ponch and Allison, and check out the scene...</li> <li><span class="italic">March 2005</span><br /> After discussions with Kato, I receive orders to COMSIXTHFLEET Naples, Italy.</li> <li><span class="italic">July 2005</span><br /> Gunfighter Soccer Team, Virginia Beach, VA.<br /> Certified PADI Basic Open Water Scuba Diver / Certified NITROX Scuba Diver.</li> <li><span class="italic">September 2005</span><br /> De–commissioned VF–101.<br /> Last Ashtanga Yoga class, Virginia Beach, VA.<br /> Trip to Mt. Pleasant, TX, for week and a half.</li> <li><span class="italic">October 2005</span><br /> Birthday at home in Tucson, Arizona, with just about everyone.<br /> Moved to Naples, Italy. Reported for duty to COMSIXTHFLEET.<br /> Trip up to top/crater of Mt. Vesuvius.<br /> Purchased Italian 1996 Alfa Romeo 155.</li> <li><span class="italic">November 2005</span><br /> Trip to Pompeii, Ercolano, and Sorrento.<br /> Discovered O'Croinin's, Black Stuff, Old Wine, Dream View Pizza, and many other places.</li> <li><span class="italic">December 2005</span><br /> Moved into my house in Bacoli, Italy.<br /> Ordered ADSL internet service.<br /> Took a trip to Bologna, Italy, for a Coldplay concert. Couldn't get in. Partied all night instead at the University of Bologna.<br /> First music performance in Italy. Acoustic show at Black Stuff in Monte di Procida, with my buddy Brett.</li> <li><span class="italic">January 2006</span><br /> New Year's, Rome.<br /> Snowboarding trip to Roccaraso, Italy, for a day with my friends Paul "Balls" Slaybaugh and "Bogey" Andy Bogie.<br /> My brother, Todd, arrives for a 2 week visit.<br /> 2 days in Rome, 1 day in Assisi, 2 days in Florence, 1 day in Siena.<br /> Pompeii, Sorrento, trips around Naples.</li> <li><span class="italic">February 2006</span><br /> FINALLY got ADSL internet service at my house in Bacoli.<br /> Skiing in Roccaraso this weekend with Balls, Bogey, and Trey?</li> </ul>
